Stellar Halliday Wine Companion Scores

Stellar Halliday Wine Companion Scores

The 2025 Halliday Wine Companion has published the nation’s top wines and we’re excited to announce that Printhie Wines has earned one exceptional and nine outstanding accolades. The Swift 2015 Vintage has continued its stellar run and was awarded 97 points, the highest scoring sparkling from NSW. Printhie Wines is also the winery with the most 95+ points in the Orange Wine Region.

The scores in summary are:

Shanteh Wale reviewed Printhie’s wines and provided this commentary on the Swift 2015 Vintage Sparkling “Ripe lemon skin, golden apple, lanolin, lemon myrtle and dried paper bark. Shattered oyster shell, dry sand and chalk powder. Roasted pine nut, candlenut and brie cheese skin. Undulating pools of acidity followed by blush cherries, yuzu and pineapple. The palate feels endless and fruit weight is significant, it’s carried by engaged acid and the perfectly tailored dosage. A wonder of a wine.”

Printhie has again been rated as a five red star winery which means “Outstanding winery regularly producing wines of exemplary quality and typicity. Will have at least two wines rated 95 points or above and has typically held a 5-star rating for the previous three years.”

We’re particularly pleased with the performance of our Chardonnay’s. The Super Duper Chardonnay has been awarded 95+ points for the last three releases (2018, 2019 & 2021). The first release of the single vineyard Wattleview Chardonnay 2021 received 95 points and the Millwood Chardonnay 2021 received 93 points. The 2022 vintage for both these wines is to be released later this year. These scores, along with the Topography 2022 Chardonnay which won the Trophies at the 2023 Orange Wine Show for Best Chardonnay and Best White Wine of Show, indicate that Printhie is at the head of the pack with this benchmark varietal from the Orange Wine Region.

Pinot Gris was another top performer. We make a deliberate attempt to push the style more towards the richer end of the Gris/Grigio spectrum. Since the first release of the Topography Pinot Gris in 2019 the Halliday Wine Companion has awarded it 93, 94, 92 and 95 points respectively. The 2023 vintage was ranked in the Top Rated by Variety Pinot Gris/Grigio and is the highest rated Pinot Gris from the region.

The Swift range has again performed with consistency at a high level. There were six Swift Sparklings ranked in the Top Rated by Variety for Sparkling Wine.

The two most recent releases of the Swift Blanc de Blancs (2011 & 2012) have both been scored 96pts. Plus the four most recent releases of Swift Vintage have scored 2012 (95pt), 2013 (94pt), 2014 (94pt) 2015 (97pts) – the highest rated sparkling wine in Orange. Recent releases of Swift NV Cuvée have continued to impress with #7 (96pt), #9 (95pt), #10 (96pt), #11 (95pt), #13 (95pt) and #14 (95pt). The very popular Swift NV Rosé has notched up an outstanding history as well with #3 (95pt), #7 (93pt), #9 (92pt), #10 (95pt) and #11 (95pt). Last but definitely not least, the Swift Blanc de Noirs has elevated the range with 2016 (95pt) and 2017 (93pt) – the 2019 will be in the next edition.

Taking the above scores into account, along with 50 trophies (which includes 27 trophies for the Swift range) from major capital city wine shows and NSW Wine Awards, the quality of our wine is undeniable.

Swift is a world class sparkling wine that is undeniably at the very pointy end of quality and interest in the Australian sparkling landscape and is comparable for quality and value with Champagne at any level.
