2023 Halliday Wine Companion Results

The 2023 Halliday Wine Companion ratings have been released and we’re excited to share our results which is a great testament to the winemaking team lead by Drew Tuckwell. For the 12th year we have been recognised as a 5-star winery.

Our Swift Sparkling range again received great recognition with all sparklings achieving 93 points and above. The Swift Blanc de Blancs 2011 was awarded 96 pts and the Swift NV Cuvée followed closely at 95 pts with both being listed in the top rated Sparklings. It’s great to see Orange as a region is cementing itself as a premium sparkling area. The Halliday Wine Companion also commented that “Orange has leapt forward into second place (as the highest ranked sparkling region after Tasmania as a whole state) this year”.

Swift Blanc de Blancs 2011 reviewed by Ned Goodwin for 2023 Halliday Wine Companion “A late-disgorged wine based on the cool ’11 vintage. A whopping decade on lees, with an intriguing dosage (4.75g/L) comprised of barrel-fermented chardonnay and a dollop of brandy spirit. This will age further in bottle. Already toasty, creamy and broad, exuding riffs of orange blossom, quince, raw pistachio, nashi pear and brioche. The finish, long, detailed and vibrant. Thoroughly convincing” 96 pts.

Wines from both the Topography and Mountain Range also achieved high scores including the ever-popular Topography Pinot Gris awarded 94 pts. The Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc received 93 pts.

Winemaker Drew Tuckwell, who has been with Printhie Wines for 15 years, said “It’s great to see all our entries, 14 in total, ranked 90 and above this year. The Swift Sparkling range again achieved high rankings across the board. We’ve put so much time and effort into these wines so it’s very gratifying to see them recognised in the Wine Companion for 2023.”
