Printhie Wines has been consistently rated a five star winery for over a decade and this year received the added accolade of five red stars which are awarded to outstanding wineries regularly producing wines of exemplary quality and typicity over 95 points. On top of this, nine of Printhie’s wines were rated as ‘great value’ for their quality.
We’ve outlined our top-rated wines below:
Swift Vintage Brut 2015 – 96 pts
A vintage sparkling of 65/35% chardonnay/pinot noir; 2.25g/L dosage, tiraged September 2015 and disgorged August 2022. Yellow peach, juicy mango flesh, lemon butter and baked sourdough. An avalanche of flavour. Ripe nectarines, Pink Lady apples, whipped cream and Meyer lemon sorbet. Fruit reigns supreme with extended lees aging adding biscuit and roasted cashew notes. A triumph of a wine.
Swift Cuvée Brut #10 – 96 pts (SOLD OUT)
Turned apples, glacé pears, Anzac biscuits and warmed lemon curd. Puckering and ever-present chardonnay activity with white nectarine and a blush crab apple mid-palate. The lower dosage sits well with the fruit presence and biscuity yeast notes. Delightful drinking now but will age gracefully.
Swift Cuvée Brut #11 – 95 pts (SOLD OUT)
53/47% chardonnay/pinot noir; 5.0g/L dosage, 68 months on lees, disgorged August ’22. Based on the 2016 vintage with 25% reserve wines dating back to 2010. The highest proportion of pinot noir to date in the Brut #11. It displays in aromas of alpine strawberries, white peach and casaba melon. Lemon pith, chalkboard dust and crushed limestone. Honeysuckle, white pear nectar and shortbread. The dosage sits a little on the outskirts but with enough fruit weight for balance. Drinking very well now.
Super Duper Chardonnay 2019 – 95 pts (SOLD OUT)
A vintage with cold fronts and hot and dry patches. This shrugs off any sense of turmoil with a leisurely, poised exterior. Finger limes, crushed limestone, lemon curd and sheep’s whey. Equally a wine that delights and allures. Energy that leaps from the glass and complexities that have you peering deeper. The top-quality oak has settled into the wine and succulent acidity rolls on and on. Like wading into a bath of iced almond milk, it’s languorous and heavenly.
Swift Vintage Brut 2014 – 94 pts (SOLD OUT)
A vintage sparkling of 72/28% chardonnay/pinot noir; 6.0g/L dosage, tiraged August 2014 and disgorged December 2021. Braeburn apples, Corella pear, musk, strawberries and yellow peach skin. A wave of lemon curd, warmed butter, roasted almond praline, vanilla, quince and hints of yellow florals. A generous palate with the dosage adding to the ripe fruit weight. Drinking very well now.
